Skin type quiz: build your profile

A six-question skincare quiz. Answer once, and every product you scan gets a third answer beside the two scores — is this right for you?

0 of 6
01 Skin type ✓
02 Sensitivity ✓

At very sensitive we surface common sensitisers most people tolerate — declared fragrance allergens, essential oils — that we’d otherwise keep quiet.

03 Main concern ✓
04 Pregnant or nursing ✓

Flags retinoids, high-dose salicylic acid, hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide. Informational only — not medical advice.

05 Fungal acne prone ✓

Malassezia feeds on fatty acids in the C11–C24 range. Many of those ingredients are genuinely good for other people — so this is a separate flag, never a safety deduction.

06 Always flag these optional

Preference data, not medical data. Never sold, never shared — and we deliberately don’t ask your age, gender, or for photos.

How the scoring works

What the tiers mean, and why we don't flag your preservatives.

How do I know my skin type?

Wash with a gentle cleanser, pat dry and put nothing on for an hour. Tight or flaky means dry. Shiny all over means oily. Shiny only across your forehead, nose and chin means combination. Comfortable everywhere means normal. Pick the closest match; you can change it any time.

What does my skin profile change?

Every product you scan gets a third answer next to the two scores: is it right for your skin? It flags what you told us to watch, like fragrance, drying alcohol, ingredients that feed fungal acne, or retinoids if you are pregnant. The efficacy and safety scores stay the same for everyone.

What counts as a fungal acne trigger?

Fungal acne is caused by a yeast called Malassezia, not by bacteria, and it feeds on certain fatty acids and oils in the C11 to C24 range. Plenty of those ingredients are good for other people, so DemythSkin flags them only if you say you are prone. They never lower a product's safety score.

Is this a skincare routine quiz?

Not the kind that sells you a routine. DemythSkin checks each product you own, or are about to buy, against your answers, so the routine you build is made of things that suit your skin. No brand pays to be recommended.

Is the pregnancy question medical advice?

No. It flags ingredients commonly avoided while pregnant or nursing, like retinoids, high-dose salicylic acid, hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide. It is information to take to your doctor, not a diagnosis.

What happens to my answers?
  1. They are preference data, not medical data, and they are never sold or shared. We do not ask your age, your gender or for photos, and you can delete your profile with one click.
Is DemythSkin free to use?

The analyzer is free, no account needed. A free account unlocks alternatives and a skin profile; Pro applies that profile to every scan. Scores are identical for subscribers and non-subscribers.

Can I check a product for acne or fungal acne triggers without a profile?

Yes. The acne & pore-clogging ingredient checker and the fungal acne ingredient checker name every flagged ingredient on any scan, free. A profile adds the checks that depend on you, like fragrance you react to or pregnancy, to every scan on the site.
